Mars quintile Makemake

Venus has finally turned direct today, which means you can start coming out of your reassessment phase as the new improved you that has been hatching. Over the past few months you've likely been resolving old stuff and trying out some new stuff. Now, as Venus turns, be gentle with yourself during the transition from the inner to the outer work.
And I hope you are enjoying today's Mars trine the North Node. Today we can take action to fulfil our destiny. A lot of our time is spent resolving past karma, or avoiding that work, but in these days we'll be creating new karma through the actions we take and this is the destined work that we are here to do.
Mars is also quintile our new planet of systems consciousness, Makemake, which is at 10 degrees Libra. Makemake is the understanding we have been developing throughout our lives of who we are, and how the world works. The quintile tells us that this world-view can inform, at a very deep level, the actions that you take o fulfil your destiny. But you do have to take action, the quintiles don't just happen by themselves.
You can look at Makemake as the higher octave of Uranus, which in modern astrology is the higher octave of Mercury. The winged messenger's ideas and communication are intuited and networked by Uranus, and create a rich intuitive understanding at the Makemake level. All three planets are tricksters, and Makemake is a spiritual trickster, allowing you to experiment with the area of life signified by his position in your chart. The more playful you can be, the closer to the divine you will become.
So, how to best use this transit? Let's look at it in a case study, to see how it manifests. Ada Lovelace was the daughter and only legitimate child of the famous poet, Lord Byron, whose marriage to her mother lasted a year. She had Makemake in the 10th house conjunct her MC. Although she lived in the 19th century, she is known as the first computer programmer, and she said that she could "throw rays from every quarter of the universe into one vast focus", so we can see she was very Makemakian.

She showed an early gift in math, having studied from age five, and gradually formed an ambition to work as a mathematician. She met a Cambridge professor, Charles Babbage, at a party when she was 17. As they became friends, she lost interest in her household and social life, and eventually went to work as his assistant when she was 29.
Her notes on Babbage's early mechanical general-purpose computer, called the Analytical Engine, included a description of how the machine would work. This description is what an algorithm does in the modern digital world, and as a result, she is often regarded as the first computer programmer.
In 1841, as transiting Makemake was closely quintile her natal Mars in the first house, her letters began to claim special intellectual talents. She wrote to her mother that she felt herself to be "pre-eminently a discoverer of the hidden realities of nature;" this by virtue of her special intellectual talents.
First, owing to what she called "a peculiarity in her nervous system", she claimed to have "perceptions of some things, which no one else has; or at least very few, if any. This faculty may be designated in me as a singular tact, or some might say an intuitive perception of things hidden from eyes, ears & the ordinary senses."
Second, she claimed "immense reasoning faculties". And third, what she called her: "concentrative faculty, by which I mean the power not only of throwing my whole energy & existence into whatever I choose, but also bringing to bear on any one subject or idea, a vast apparatus from all sorts of apparently irrelevant & extraneous sources. I can throw rays from every quarter of the universe into one vast focus."
Here we see her developing systems consciousness, able to integrate seemingly unrelated things into one big world-view. As we develop our Makemake, we understand the fractal nature of this world-view, where each part of the whole references all other parts.
At the spiritual level we develop the devotional focus to understand the rich tapestry of our lives that is held in each moment. And through Makemake’s fractal nature, we also see the cosmos in each of those moments. The cosmos is the biggest system that we are part of, and, at this level, our systems consciousness becomes a cosmic consciousness.
Remember, the higher octaves act on the inner octaves, so the more we develop spiritually, the more Makemake’s cosmic consciousness cuts through our personal feelings to reveal the bigger perspective necessary to transform our understanding of ourselves. As we do, our contact with the bountifulness of cosmic consciousness allows us to joyfully participate in our lives, because we feel the profoundness in each experience.
Makemake Scholarship
A great use of the current Mars trine North Node and quintile Makemake, would be to enrol on our Makemake course which is starting in mid-June. To encourage you I have a small number of Venus direct Scholarships for those who act quickly.
And remember this course has our new 'choice of Zoom time', and our new 'Tutor support program', which provides support Zooms to help those students who need assistance to complete the assignments. Wherever you are with your understanding of astrology, our tutors can help you participate.
Join us if you can on Makemake and thanks for your work embracing these new aspects of consciousness.

As one returning to astrological study after decades away, I find Alan’s instruction fun and informative, and the classroom format a gift of shared learning for everyone participating. Alan has created a safe and supportive space where anyone, at any level of knowledge, can thrive and shine. His obvious love of this work illuminates its presentation. I echo the comments of others, “Best astrology classes ever!” - Nalini MacNab, USA
"I have loved being present in 9 DPU classes with Melissa. As a teacher and a convenor Melissa holds a particularly open-hearted, open-minded space for sharing and growth. She brings and encourages lightness, humour and warmth to the classes. Her level of commitment and enquiry mean she is engaged and present equally for all participants, appreciating the beauty and uniqueness of each individual’s journey." Janet Sergeant, NZ, yoga instructor, astrologer.
Truly amazing that we have her letters describing this Makemakian process so accurately and in such detail! Thank you, Alan! What incredible research!
